Trowse Primary School was started in 1870 by the Colman family (famous for Colman's English Mustard and much more) in order to accommodate the educational needs of the workers' children. Today, we are a popular, successful and friendly primary school for children aged between 4 and 11 years. Our ethos is one of a calm learning environment where children are challenged and supported to be the best they can be. Although Trowse is located less than a mile from the city of Norwich, we are part of a beautiful village community with plenty of countryside surrounding us. The village has a 'Common' which is used lots by families. We also have Norfolk Snowsports and Whitlingham Adventure on our doorstep, which we use for adventure days, sailing and skiing! We have a wonderful new purpose-built building (opened November 2020) to meet the needs of our growing village community and beyond. The school has grown from 105 children, increasing by 15 children a year, and now (September 2025) has 210 children on roll. . We also have a nursery on site, run by 'Chapelfield Children's Day Nursery', which opened September 2021.
