Welcome to Skinners Academy, a co-educational academy in the north of Hackney. The Academy began life as the Skinners Company's School for Girls in Stamford Hill in 1890. The girls school closed i n 2010, relocating to a new site in Woodberry Grove and reopening as a co-educational school, with the sixth form opening shortly afterwards in 2014. We continue to have close links with our sponsors, the Worshipful Company of Skinners, one of the Great Twelve livery companies of the City of London, with a history dating back to the 11th century, and formally founded in 1327. Our Academy's motto is Be the best you can be and the values we uphold and promote are curiosity, kindness, and bravery. We want the young people in our care to develop a love of learning, a consideration for others, and the courage to take on new challenges and stand up for what is right.
